Jacob Nader is an author and visual artist who holds an MFA in figurative sculpture. His collaborative projects have earned Brooklyn Arts Council grants, and he has worked with various international arts institutions as an artist-in-residence and visiting instructor, including the Museum of Art Design and La Escuela de Diseño de Altos de Chavón.
Jacob began exploring storytelling as an extension of his art practice when he relocated from New York City to the Middle East in 2017. He wrote his first novel, A Lantern in the Shade, while working in Saudi Arabia as a cultural advisor, during a period of unprecedented social reform.
Jacob hopes his writing sheds light on people from the Middle East and heralds the many rich and vibrant cultures of the region. Jacob is currently living in Brooklyn, NY, where he is writing and preparing for his upcoming artist residency at HANGAR in Lisbon, Portugal.
